Are you intrigued by the thought of adding a touch of magic to your next event? Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing. There is much more to the magical art form than a tuxedoed performer standing on a stage pulling bunnies out of a hat! A professional magician with a dose of imagination can create something extra special, giving your guests something to talk about for literally years to come and making your event successful and fun.

These ideas are grouped into three sections, corporate, home and customized magic.

Corporate

bullet

Hospitality Suites. Sponsoring an oasis where your clients and potential clients can take a break from a convention or other gathering? In addition to refreshments and a relaxed atmosphere, you can provide entertainment in the form of a strolling magician. Laughter will be produced magically and the conversation will begin rolling as guests are introduced to one another during the spontaneous performances. Customized magical effects can also gently reinforce your company name, logo, or new product offering.

bullet

Trade Shows. On a crowded exhibit floor, a magician can pull crowds to your booth and keep them there with fun, amazement and excitement. Custom-crafted performances can showcase the "magic" of your products and/or services, and tell your story in an entertaining way. As part of a total magical theme, your "give-away" souvenirs can be magic tricks instead of the usual pens, magnets and key rings. When word gets around, you can bet that everyone at the convention will want to stop by your exhibit area to learn to perform some magic and receive their own mini-miracle to take home!

bullet

Customer Events. The "end in mind" of special customer celebrations is to increase business—either by thanking your existing customers or introducing yourself to potential new clients. In any case, people love to be entertained, especially with magic that is being done just for them. Magical effects designed especially for the occasion can dramatically convey your message or introduce your products.

bullet

Employee Recognition. Want to thank an associate for an outstanding contribution? Want to recognize a team or workgroup for achieving a goal or milestone? A customized magical performance can make your employees into the stars of the show, and really feel appreciated!

bullet

Company Picnics and Parties. Whether it's a holiday celebration, the annual summer picnic, or an evening at the boss's house, magic can ensure that a good time will be had by all and that the event will be memorable (and different from past years!). One type of employee party is a themed "Casino" or "Las Vegas" night, with mock gambling, raffles, and prizes. For these types of events, a magician can be a particularly effective, as the environment of card playing and games of chance lends a natural curiosity toward sleight-of-hand and funny card shark exposés.

bullet

Restaurants. A magician can do a great deal to create new and repeat business for your restaurant. High-quality, free entertainment can set your establishment apart from your competition. Customers will often return with friends to see an entertainer that has impressed them. Advertising of the new attraction can draw customers during slack times. And during busy periods, the magician can make time fly by with sparkling fun, causing guests not to notice delays in seating or waiting for the food to arrive.

bullet

Hospital or Recuperation Visits. Often, employers send flowers or small gifts to associates who are hospitalized or recuperating from major illness or surgery. How about sending a magician? Amazement and laughter can literally have a magic effect on someone whose spirits need bolstering; "laughter is the best medicine" as the old adage goes. The visit can be customized with your special corporate message, and mementos can be delivered by the magician to commemorate the event.

Birthday Parties. It's very common for people to associate magicians with children's birthday parties. But the performance of magic is great for the grownups, too! Imagine the delight and surprise of the birthday celebrant when they are honored with customized magic telling a story or anecdote about their life.

bullet

Dinner Parties. How about something really unique the next time you entertain at your home?  A live performer is often unexpected, and magic puts your guests in the center of the action.

bullet

Family Reunions. It's sometimes amazing how much diversity can be represented by people sharing a common blood line! What kind of entertainment will appeal to everyone? A magician interacting with and delivering personalized entertainment to each individual may be the answer you're looking for. Customized effects that relate cherished family stories will delight everyone, and can help introduce the various family members to one another.

bullet

Wedding Receptions. Though initially counterintuitive to some, a strolling magician can truly add magic to your wedding day. In addition to being a very special gift of entertainment to your guests, a magician can help fill slack times when, for example, photographs are being taken or while the guests are waiting their turn for the buffet or receiving line. Hospital or Recuperation Visits. Thinking of sending flowers or small gifts to a loved one who is hospitalized or recuperating from major illness or surgery? A personalized visit from a magician can cost about the same. Amazement and laughter can literally have a magic effect on someone whose spirits need bolstering; "laughter is the best medicine" as the old adage goes. The visit can be customized with a special message, and mementos or gifts can be delivered by the magician to commemorate the event.

bullet

Bat and Bar Mitzvahs. Well recognized as an ideal component of a bar or bat mitzvah celebration, a magical performance can be all the more special when customized for the celebrant.

bullet

Organizational Events. Are you a member of a church, community organization, civic league, neighborhood association, or other club? Add some impact, excitement and fun to your events with magic! A professional magician can turn even a "run-of-the-mill" potluck into something that will be remembered! Having a fund-raiser? Team with a magician to generate revenue!

Customized Magic

Many of the ideas listed above mention customized magic—performances and effects especially designed to sell a product, honor a special person or group, or tell your unique story. What are these customized effects like? The variations and possibilities are literally endless, but here is a small sampling of possibilities:

bullet

Imagine a spectator selecting a random card from a deck. In an instant, the back of the card changes to display your logo, a photograph of an honoree, your sales slogan, a special message, or any desirable text and graphics. The spectator then gets to keep the card as a souvenir.

bullet

A problem is described to the audience at a trade show, and the assembly is asked what a magical solution to the problem might be. With a dramatic wave of the hand, your new product is produced magically from under a silk scarf or from an empty hat.

bullet

During the act, the magician announces a special magical performer from the Far East, who was contracted with extreme difficulty for a surprise appearance. The mystery guest walks on stage, and turns out to be the company CEO, chairman, or president! Then, to the delight and laughter of the audience, the "big boss" actually performs some minor miracles, thanks to the lessons she or he received from the magician prior to the performance.

bullet

Your "story line" can be woven perfectly with the magic being performed. Consider some of these examples:

bullet

For a financial institution or investment firm, money can be made to disappear ("Do you find it difficult to find money to invest?") and then multiply over and over again.

bullet

For a wedding, photographs of the bride and groom can be inserted into different parts of a card deck, only to come together in the middle—superimposed on images of the king and queen of hearts!

bullet

For any exhibit utilizing a computer, a prediction can be made to magically appear on the screen. Prove that your firm has the answers to your clients' problems!

bullet

For a birthday or anniversary celebration, the number associated with the event (e.g., the person's age or the anniversary year) can become a comical recurring theme. For the number "25", for example, a selection can be found 25 cards from the top of the deck. Two spectators select cards: one is a "2", the other is a "5". And a quarter (25¢) magically changes into $25.00!

bullet

For an insurance company, the spectators can be given miniature "insurance policies"—just in case something goes wrong during the performance. When, in fact, something does go wrong and the magician fails to identify a selected card, the policy is opened to show a prediction: a picture of the card that was chosen! Additionally, the "policy", which is kept as a souvenir, contains copy from your sales brochure.
